BASKETBALL - SPORTING CLUBE FIGUEIRENSE

Sports photography it's not the easiest one. I think that almost everyone agrees with me. Whenever I have a chance to pratice it, I go for it.

This time my sister, that does some work with a female basketball team, invited me to go and see a game of the youngest players. I told her if I could take my camera and shoot some photos I would go :)

My main problem was the fact that I didn't want to use flash because I didn't know if it would disturb the players, and because of that I had to increase my ISO in the way that I could have a fast shutter speed to freeze the images. The result is that the pictures turned out very noisy.

I've used the Siga 17-50mm for wider shots and the Canon 85mm to get closer to the action.

I still have a lot to lurn!

LET'S GO TO THE ZOO

Last week me and my famiilly went to visit Lisbon's Zoo. I really don't like to see animals in cages but I knew that my daughters would love to go, so I went. I immediately thought it would be a good opportunity to take some photos.

I only took my camera, Canon 70D and the 70-300 Sigma Lens. Big mistake! With that lens I should have taken a Tripod because in most on the cases the animals were very far, and because of that I had to use a big focal distance and most of the shots turn out very blurry!

One thing that I was worried about was the cages and trying to avoid them. I did some research and the best way to avoid the cages to appear on the photos is to use the maximum focal distance of the lens and the biggest apperture I could use. In my case between 200 and 300mm and an apperture of 3.5-4.0.

Here are some the photos:

COIMBRA BY NIGHT

Another great city that makes part of my life is Coimbra. Not only because I was born there and also because it's the city where I work for some years.

It's a beautiful city with many interesting places to take some photos. The old building are really amazing for that.

Here are some photos that I've been taking from Coimbra buildings by night.

MY FIGUEIRA DA FOZ

I've lived in Figueira da Foz almost all my life. For me it's one of the most beautiful cities in Portugal. It has everything. Beach, Sea, River and the Mountains!

One thing that I miss since I left Figueira, besides my familly, is sunsets. Those beautiful sunsets!

MTB - CONDEIXA CROSS COUTRY PHOTOSHOOT

I'm a man of many hobbies. One of them is Mountain Biking. I've been doing it since I was a little boy and I'll do it until my legs let me...

I've been wanting to shoot a MTB event for a while and a few months ago I was going to participate on a MTB event organized by the Blackbulls in the city where I currently live but I had a knee injury from running and so because I could not enter that event I thought that this was the perfect oportunity to take some photos and in a way "enter" the event.

For these photos I used my Canon 70D with the Sigma 17-50mm F2.8 and a Off camera Canon 430EX speedlight mouted on a tripod. For triggering the Flash I used the Youngnuo RF-603CII flash triggers.

CHILDREN HOME MADE SESSION

Has I said before the best way to find models for your photoshoots is to ask a member of your family, or if you have children who like to pose for the camera, even better! :)

Children photography is not easy. Start to practice some photography sessions with your own and you'll learn what you have to improve. For me what works better is to turn it into a fun moment for everyone.

Here are some of my first home made quick photoshoot with my daughters:
